CWSpirits.com unfortunately doesn’t have this gem. But they do have a great selection of other Cabernet Sauvignons! I would give Raymond Cabernet Sauvignon a try. It’s fantastic and in the same price range, typically $30. I have blogged about Raymond Reserved in the past, it’s a really wonderful bottle of wine. Use code SipEatRepeat for a 5% discount off any order! CWS.com is a great option if you are looking to ship to a state like MI. Or any other hard to ship to State, their shipping cost is about $16.10 for one bottle.
What I love about the wine
Simi Cabernet Sauvignon came into my life as my husband was cooking a nice Italian dinner and realized we were out of cabs. He ran to the nearest gas station and grabbed the most expensive bottle of wine they had. He figured it should be somewhat decent if it was close to $30. It was a gas station bottle of wine so I was a little hesitant, but I appreciated his effort and gave it a fair try. I was anticipating a burn on the way down but to my surprise it was pretty darn easy to drink.
I’ve been drinking a lot of cabs lately that taste like red blends, which are delicious, but I was starting to forget what a less fruity cab tasted like. I was missing the bigger body cabs. I love that Simi brought me back to what a traditional cabernet sauvignon taste like. It reminded me of a good blue cheese that gives you everything you love about blue cheese without that really hard sharpness that some will have. Simi is a heavier wine without the sharp acidic burn that some big cabs can have.
But how does it taste?
Simi Cabernet Sauvignon, nailed the “velvety finish” description on the back label. It is a flavorful bottle of wine that highlights its dark fruits without being overpowering or sweet. It is dry and bold yet smooth and enjoyable from start to finish.
